OUR
EVENTS
At Critical Dance Pedagogy, our events aim to stimulate intellectual discussions about identity and reimagine dance education in practice. The series provides a valuable platform for artists and educators to collaborate and contribute to the evolution of dance and embodied knowledge.
Critical Dance Pedagogy Initial Teacher Training Online Event
We would like to invite you to join us for an online workshop on Critical Dance Pedagogy, designed specifically for trainee dance teachers engaging in PGCE, or Direct with Schools programmes. This interactive session will delve into the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Critical Dance Pedagogy, equipping you with tools to foster inclusive, reflective, and student-centered teaching practices.
The session will also explore your curiosities and questions about Critical Dance Pedagogy. Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding or refine your approach, this workshop will encourage you to challenge traditional norms and empower your students through their dance education.

Critical Dance Pedagogy Artist Lab 2
This unique 2- day Artist Lab reunion, brings back together teaching artists from our first Artist Lab to work alongside a creative team to explore Critical Dance Pedagogy in the studio space together. Our objectives are:
To bring together teaching artists from across the UK with a creative team, to network, share practice, knowledge exchange, and engage in action learning.
Raise awareness of Critical Dance Pedagogy, of socially embedded assumptions and dominant structural power relations that produce unjust educational and socio-cultural outcomes in dance.
To reflect upon the impact the first artist lab had on the artists, and how it has impact their practice, and their students/dancers.
To explore challenges the artists encountered in their practice, and how they changed and evolved their pedagogy in response
